Needed = (Desired − Current × (1 − Weight/100)) / (Weight/100)

Where Current and Desired are grades as percentages, and Weight is the final exam's share of your overall grade as a percentage.

If the final is worth 100% of your grade, your current grade doesn't factor in at all — the score you need on the final is simply your target overall grade.

Yes, the math can produce a number above 100% if your current grade is too low relative to your target and the final doesn't carry enough weight to close the gap. When that happens, this calculator tells you plainly that the target isn't mathematically reachable, rather than showing a misleading figure like 127%.

Under the weighted-average model, your completed work reaches the target even with 0% on the final. This does not override a requirement to sit or pass the exam, complete all assessments, or meet another course rule.

The weight determines how much the final can move your overall grade. A final worth 10% of your grade can only shift your average a little, while one worth 50% can swing it dramatically — so an accurate weight from your syllabus is essential for a useful result.
